It's the time of the year when many people become legless . . . but the German cyclist pictured was making sure it wasn't going to be her.

She earned a few wolf whistles as she cycled along with a rather sensual pair of mannequin legs in her basket.

A teenager failed to appear in Port Kembla Children's Court yesterday for stealing because she had just given birth.

Her first appearance was nine months ago when she was charged with stealing a pregnancy test kit.

WIRES (Wildlife Rescue Service) workers have to deal with some sad critters but there are a few laughs thrown in.

A Warrawong woman phoned the service recently reporting a bird trapped in her roof after she heard pathetic, weak chirps all night.

A WIRES rep searched the roof area with no luck. But as he was climbing down he heard the so-called "chirp" and tracked it to the smoke alarm. It was low in batteries and making warning beeps.

Kevan of Wollongong was set for a dismal Christmas after losing his wallet on the 6.50am train from Wollongong to Corrimal on Tuesday.

He ran back to search but with no luck. However, things turned around when he got a call from a Bronwyn that afternoon.

She had found his wallet and handed it in.

Kevan wants to thank her and wish her the merry Christmas she brought him.

Oh what tangled web we weave - the FBI is hunting a woman who had four husbands at the same time and who deserted from the Marine Corps nearly 30 years ago while still a man.

Erica Sandra Kay, 47, was born Eddie James Mundell and was declared absent without leave in 1968 from Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Being hunted on fraud and desertion charges, Mundell underwent a sex change two years later and changed his name.
